Buddy Walk 2012 – Down Syndrome Victoria

In 2012, there will be a number of walks held in Australia with most coinciding with Down Syndrome Awareness Week (14 – 21 October). If you are looking for an exercise event in Melbourne, come and support Down Syndrome Awareness Week at Princes Park in Carlton.

Buddy Walk is an international walk-a-thon style event aimed at raising funds for and awareness of Down syndrome.

Buddy Walk brings together people with Down syndrome and their ‘buddies’ – everyone from friends and family to teachers, politicians and co-workers – to raise funds for education, support and advocacy programs provided by Down Syndrome Victoria.

Buddy Walk Event Details

Buddy Walks in Victoria for 2012 are:

Melbourne Sunday 14th October 2012 at Princes Park, Carlton

Registration/ Check in opens at 9am, walk commencing at 10:30am

Geelong Sunday 21st October 2012 at Rippleside Park, Rippleside

Registration/ Check in opens at 10am, walk commencing at 10:30am

There are more than 260 Buddy Walks around the world. In Australia, the walks coincide with Down Syndrome Awareness Week during October.

2012 Entry Fees

Early Bird Registration is $8 per adult (persons aged 17 and under are free). Early bird prices are effective until Friday 21st September. After, registration fees will be $15.

Registration fees assist Down Syndrome Victoria in covering administration costs and fees that go into running this event

Buddy Walk brings together people with Down syndrome and their invited ‘buddies’ – everyone from friends and family to teachers, politicians and co-workers – to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome within the community.

Buddy Walk is an international walk-a-thon style event aimed at raising funds for Down Syndrome Victoria and awareness of Down syndrome. The walk itself is an easy walk suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels.

There are more than 260 Buddy Walks around the world. In Australia, the walks coincide with Down Syndrome Awareness Week during October.
